Polish Military Aviation Paintings by Piotr Gorka

The Cracovia Academy of Polish Language and Culture is proud to announce its sponsorship and patronage of Krakow artist Piotr Gorka. Mr. Gorka's military aviation paintings not only reflect an impressive mastery of oil technique, but are also historically accurate. Mr. Gorka's imagination, combined with a remarkable knowledge of the subject and exhaustive consultations with veteran pilots, brings his work to an almost documentary level; real moments are frozen in time. His work represents an important contribution to both Polish military and aviation history of the Second World War.

Mr. Gorka's work is an important testament to the significant and decisive role played by Polish pilots and air crews in the fight against Nazism during the Second World War in the service of the Polish Airforce, RAF and other Allied airforces.

The late General Stanislaw Skalski (DFC, DSO, FC, VM, KW), an highly decorated Polish Pilot of the Second World War commented on the work of Piotr Gorka:

"A painter has to organzie all - the details: background, light, colour, dimension, and also charactersitics typical for the air combat. All those components have to fit together well. I am convinced that in Piotr Gorka's paintings we can find a very interesting and approporiate combinatiaon of all those aspects, which makes me think highly of his talent"

Piotr Gorka has over 18 original oil and sketches as well as other works in progress. Curruntly 2 of his original oil paintings and 4 limited edition print series are available for sale. Further series are expected to be printed in the future.

Piotr Gorka's paintings all depict actual aerial combat events and flight sorties of Polish pilots and aircrews from various phases, fronts and campaigns of WWII and all are signed by the pilots and crews of the events depicted.
